SKOOL Camp

About us

Camp dates: July 6–10, 2026

Capacity: 20 participants

Age: 7–13 years

Make your own games

Tool: Scratch

During the workshops, you'll learn the basics of programming using familiar worlds and characters from games, while building stories and characters in Scratch that you'll be able to play on laptops and phones at the end of the session. You can even show them to your friends! 📲💪

Who is our camp for?

For girls and boys who are eager to learn the basics of programming and game development and explore their exciting world, who have ideas they'd love to bring to life, and who are ready to take on new challenges!

Design thinking is an open-minded yet logical and critical creative approach that fosters collaborative and creative problem-solving, making it highly applicable in many areas of life.

At Skool and KódGarázs, we use this methodology in our discovery- and experience-based tech camps—in a way that children and young people can understand and enjoy.

CAMP ACTIVITIES

Phase 1: Immersion and Exploration

Project introduction: We tell the children a background story they can imagine themselves in. Introduction to the tools: Together with the children, we explore how each platform (Scratch, Thunkable) works. We simply coordinate the process; the children play the active role.

Phase 2: Creative Brainstorming

Joint brainstorming: Together with the children, we come up with a story that best fits the task at hand. We discuss what prior knowledge, experience, ideas, and concepts each child has, and which of the available tools they would most like to use.

Phase 3: Development

Sketching in small groups: During the creative workshop, everyone in groups of three plans the workflow and creates the sketch they think would be the most exciting for their own project.

Development: After the joint preparation, we begin implementation

Phase 4: Presentation, Sharing

Presentation: We present the finished work. Either to all participants at once, or the teams go around in a circle and evaluate each other's work with positive feedback. Sharing: The finished project is shared with the children

During the camp, we go through these processes while the children create their own games, mobile apps, and irrigation systems. Throughout the day, the children learn the basics of programming and, with the help of design thinking, the steps of the design process. We also focus on developing other important skills, such as building self-confidence, fostering ambition, and developing leadership potential through activities like public speaking, creating and delivering presentations, and even building networks and gaining experience through teamwork.
